Why don't these children go to school?

     Many reasons exist that prevent or obstruct children from going to school. Some are not a surprise, some are shocking and all are true.

  •  Schools, if available, are too far away
  •  Parents are too poor to afford supplies, clothing, food, etc.
  •  The children are working on the farm
  •  The children are working in family business
  •  The children are employed in hard factory labour (sometimes working 12 hour days, weaving or making bricks)
  •  The children are 'employed' (often kidnapped or sold) as camel jockeys (racing) in foreign countries
  •  As above, many young girls are 'employed' in the sex trade
