


The audience were also treated to a musical extravaganza by singer Nawrin, who gave an engaging performance of Bangla and Hindi songs that had the entire hall tapping their feet, and at times, singing out loud.The guests were also regaled by the comedic talents of Samson Koletkar, and Hasan Minhaj. Koletkar entertained the audience with jokes about culture and religious clashes, and Minhaj brought the house down with hilarious accounts of growing up in a “desi” household.The afternoon ended on a high note with a performance by dance group, Tattva and live DJ Triple E’s catchy mixes that invited attendees to boogey down on the dance floor!
The afternoon gala kicked off with Afghani cuisine, catered by local favourite Salang Pass restaurant. Flowers were generously donated by Flower Addict decked the event hall, and two paintings that were to be auctioned off on Ebay were displayed prominently next to the raffle booth. One of the paintings was successfully auctioned off for $750!
Sophia Rahman was MC for the afternoon. There were four speakers at the event – Babu Rahman, Mahmudul Hassan, Sabir Majumder and Nisar Ahmed. They spoke passionately on Agami’s progress, and commitment to education in Bangladesh. By highlighting the status of Agami’s current projects, and tracking the growth of the organization, the speakers stressed the importance of educational advancement in Bangladesh. Matin Ahmed made an ardent speech about the plight of remote Sylhet villages where low literacy rates are a direct result of the lack of access to (a) proper transportation methods, (b)reasonable amount of educational resources and (c) a lack of dedicated projects and volunteers who will take on the challenge of creating awareness about the benefits of education.





Agami held its 5th Annual Fundraiser on July 27, 2008 at the Century House in Fremont, CA. Highlighting their spirited commitment, Agami volunteers and event organizers successfully galvanized its guests to donate $22,000 in a single afternoon!
