Dear Friends: We would like to invite you to attend the "Concert for Cyclone Victims of Bangladesh," a multi-cultural charity concert, on January 26, 2008. This concert is organized by Agami, a northern California based US non-profit 501(c) (3) corporation and Anandasheba, in collaboration with US, Indian, Iranian, Nepalese, Thai, and Bangladeshi volunteers. Please mark your calendar for a dazzling show of multi-national cultures in one stage. Human Tragedy of Immense Proportion Unfolding: Bangladesh's coastal area was devastated by a Category IV cyclone Sidr on November 15, 2007. Sidr struck with winds of 150 mph and left more than 3,000 dead, 1,000 missing, and 40,000 injured. More than a million homes were damaged, crops were damaged on more than 2 million acres of land, and more than 1.25 million livestock were killed. A human tragedy is unfolding in one of the poorest nation of the world as more than 8.5 million people were affected by this devastating cyclone. The total loss has been estimated to be more than 2 billion US dollars. To learn more, please visit: www.agami-us.org/cyclone-effort.htm http://www.anandamelahome.org/current_year/sidr.html Your Help is Needed: Imagine how long-drawn the process of rehabilitation of Sidr victims could be in one of the poorest nations on earth considering that rehabilitation of Katrina victims is still continuing in the richest nation on earth, two years after that devastation has taken place. Remember, "There comes a time/When we heed a certain call /When the world must come together as one/There are people dying/And it's time to lend a hand to life /The greatest gift of all......We are the world, We are the children, We are the ones who make a brighter day, So let's start giving.” Tickets: Admission ticket prices including dinner will be $15 (kids under 12, $5). More details will be available at www.anandamelahome.org. Please Make Generous Tax Deductible Donations: All proceeds after concert related expenses will be sent directly to the cyclone victims. AGAMI is a US non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation with zero overheads (Tax ID 73-1683721), all funds collected will directly benefit the victims. You can contribute by writing a check to Agami, Inc. and mailing it to: Agami, PO Box 3178, Fremont, CA 94539. You can also donate online by visiting Agami web site www.agami-us.org/cyclone-effort.htm. Please write Bangladesh Cyclone Victim Fund in memo section. We urge you to kindly donate as early as possible before the concert day, preferably before December 31, 2007 to take year-end tax benefit. Agami will send you a tax receipt. Names of contributors over $1,000 will be announced on the stage. |
