 Agami – Cyclone Sidr Relief Effort Projects Update – 04/09/2008

           Agami has been working  with several organizations like Jatiyo Tran Committee,Jaklen Muoi Tuyen Foundation, Central Disaster Management Committee and Distressed Children and Infant International to help cyclone Sidr victims in the costal areas of Bangladesh. The projects are focused on rebuilding the affected schools and supply students with educational materials.

  Donation to Jatiyo Tran Committee (JTC) Bangladesh

 

 

       Agami has donated $5000 to Jatiyo Tran Committee to help around 800+ students with educational materials in the SIDR cyclone affected areas of Potuakhali, Mongla, Morelgonj, Shoronkola. Agami is mentioned in JTC donor list.

  Project with Distressed Children and Infant International (DCI)

 

 

      Agami is working with Distressed Children and Infant International (DCI) to rebuild schools and provide educational material. The Patuakhali district, one of DCI's Sun Child Sponsership project areas. One of the DCI supported school is East Shaula Primary school in village Saula, Kalaiya Union, Upojilla Bauphal. DCI will construct the school building, setup the school logistic and provide support for the students. The estimated cost of  the project is $12,402.00 . Agami will provide $7500 for the project and is currently finalizing details of the project.

 

  Project with Jaklen Muoi Tuyen Foundation (JMTF)

 

        Agami has been supporting projects with Jaklen Muoi Tuyen Foundation (JMTF) JMTF currently operates two basic education centers in Uttarbedkashi and Patharkhali villages of Uttarbedkashi union of Koyra upazilla in the coastal district of Khulna. These schools are currently funded by Agami.JMTF has already spent the necessary money to repair the damages to the schools and replace the damaged books and supplies.Agami will reimburse the costs incurred by JMTF.The estimated amount of 45,000.00 BDT will be given for the school repair and amount of 30,000 BDT will be given to replace damaged books and school supplies. A total of 75,000.00 BDT will be provided by Agami on March 2008. The project will be completed within one month after the fund distribution.  

 


  Projects with Central Disaster Management Committee (CDMC)

 

 

        Agami is working with Central Disaster Management Committee to rebuild schools and .Sharaonkhola Upazila of Bagerhat district is one of the most affected areas. CDMC has taken a project to rebuild schools of Sharonkhola Upazila.Two of such schools are Rajapur Secondary Girls’ School at Rajapur, Dhansagar, Sharonkhola, Bagerhat  and R.K.D.S Girls’ School at  Raenda, Sharonkhola, Bagerhat. Both projects involve reconstructing school, sanitation and providing school supplies.

Project at Rajapur Secondary Girls’ School

Agami will be providing 100,000 BDT for rebuilding the school and 50,000 BDT for equipments and sanitation. The fund will be provided on January 2008. The school will start operation on February 2008. CDMC will complete the school reconstruction by June 2008. The final report on the project is expected on July 2008.

Project at R.K.D.S Girls' School

 Agami will be providing 100,000 BDT for rebuilding the school and additional 50,000 BDT for school equipments and sanitation. The fund will be given on January 2008. The school will resume its regular operation on February 2008. The school reconstruction is expected to be completed by June 2008. The final report of the project will be given on July 2008.
