At the end of week 4, the total tally is $15,001.76. We are inching towards the final target of $20,000.00 from this FR effort. With only two more weeks to go (FR campaign will wrap up on Dec 31 2007), we really need your help to get to our goal. Please come forward with your generous contribution.

We are also pleased to inform you that we have selected two partners in Bangladesh to disburse the fund to the cyclone affected people. These partners are Central Disaster Management Committee (CDMC : www.thpbd.org/cyclone) and Jatiyo Tran Committee (National Relief Committee : www.trancom.org). You can visit their websites to see the reports, photos and descriptions of their ongoing relief effort and projects. Currently we are working with them in defining education rehabilitation projects for the Sidr affected areas.

As many of you are aware, Bangladesh was hit by a Category IV cyclone on the evening of November 15, 2007. Reports are still coming in, but Red Crescent estimates that up to 10,000 people are dead and millions are now homeless and hungry.

You can go to the Daily Star (the leading daily from Bangladesh) website to get latest news on cyclone sidr relief efforts: TheDailyStar.net

CNN has also posted multiple videos of the pain and suffering:

Agami (a US-based IRS 501(c)(3) organization, tax ID 73-1683721) has launched an emergency fundraising campaign to try to help alleviate the suffering in Bangladesh.

We are in discussions with multiple relief organizations in Bangladesh.

We will focus our relief efforts on community rebuilding with emphasis on reconstruction of education institutions. Agami’s relief effort will last to December 31, 2007.

Here is a report on the extent of damage of the educational institutions:

You can see an example of the indomitable spirit of the people in the following video.

It truly captures the power of education:
